Frequently Asked Questions

How old is Alfred?

Alfred was born on 28th February, 2010, and we continue to regularly release new versions. The best way to keep up with new releases is to look at the change log - you'll find out what new features are going in each new release.

You can also follow us on Twitter at @alfredapp where we sometimes publish sneak previews as we're developing. You never know what we might let you see before everyone else!

Who are you?

We are a small group of very passionate Mac users:

I have requested a feature or bug fix, why haven't I received a response?

While we are trying very hard to respond to everyone, we are a small team. The initial 'beta' registration response has been overwhelming (with over 15,000 users in the first few months!) so we simply can't reply to every email and tweet - we do try when we're not mid-development! However, if you email us to report a bug or suggest a feature, we are ALWAYS listening.

We have great plans for the future of Alfred over the next year, so keep an eye on new releases for some nice surprises!

Why is Alfred only available for Intel Macs?

At this point in time, the beta is only available for Intel Macs as this is what we have access to for testing. We hope to release a PowerPC version of the app by v1.0 if the demand is high enough.

If after reading this, you STILL want a PPC build, you can download an untested one here.

Will you be translating Alfred? Can I help translate the application?

In future versions, we may translate Alfred, at which point we'll put a call out for help on Twitter & via email. For now, however, we will focus on core features along with localising searches to enable you to search sites in your country.

Does Alfred make money?

Read this blog post on the future of Alfred :)

We also put Amazon affiliate codes on some links, however the money this yields is insignificant.
